When in London
When in London do as the Londoner's do, or risk getting trampled on in the streets by fast moving pedestrians.
With the influx of fresh-faced, new UAL students having arrived on campus over the last month, this week we have focused on educating ourselves about the brilliant city that surrounds us with recommendations and fun facts galore.
When I first moved to London I promised myself I would never become a bustling commuter, swearing under my breath at slow moving people and never remembering to apologise.
But then one day it happened, the tube arrived two and a half minutes too late, the escalator broke down and I found myself becoming increasingly annoyed.
Instead of thinking keep calm and carry on I fell into the London mindset where all tourists become an irritant and seven minutes was to long to wait for anything.
Luckily for myself and the other seven million people who live in the city I have calmed down a bit since then and I’m happy to say at the risk of sounding incredibly cheesy, I now love this city.
I Heart London
No where else in this country could you stumble home at 9.00am on a Sunday morning still dressed in your entire Halloween costume-as I did this weekend-and have no one bat an eyelid. And no where else could you see such an amazing mix of cultures all living side by side.
London, however is a city of extremes, it can be as lonely as it is loving a place, with the feeling at times, that no one cares about you, which can be a blessing and a curse at the same time.
So check out our features for a bit more information on a city you will surely grow to love.
Besides getting all London obsessed, we also looked at the rise of the metrosexual man, which was brilliant for me as it meant hours googling pictures of David Beckham and Zac Efron, no girl could complain, although I have to say when it comes to real life I like them a bit more on the rough and ready side, no woman wants to date a man wearing more make up than her.
Michael Landon investigated the decline of lad culture questioning whether it's down to a generation change and speculating what will be next for the metrosexual man.
Next week we will be looking forward while looking back and asking is evolution really all its cracked up to be?
Charlotte Arnell will be looking at the rise of the self-service checkout. I for one hate the things, hours of scanning and its always when you go to buy the most personal products the machine breaks and you end up having to call over a supervisor anyway.
