Graduate Fair 2009

Thousands of vacancies and graduate schemes were on offer at The Guardian London Graduate Fair, proving that there are still many good job prospects for graduates.

The fair, organised by The Careers Group, was held at the Business Design Centre in Islington, and attracted thousands of graduates.

It offered a diverse and wide ranging exhibitor list, including big names such as: BBC, News Interntional, Transport for London, Barclays, Abercrombie & Fitch, HSBC, and the RAF to name a few.

Helen Bird, Sales Director at Guardian Jobs says: “All companies are facing challenging economic market conditions, which is impacting heavily on graduate recruitment, but The Guardian is fully committed to the importance of attracting, and retaining, the fresh talent that graduates have to offer to all organisations.”

Guidance and support

Established in 1909, The Careers Group, University of London, is the largest higher education careers service in the UK.

They offer an online Job board, JobOnline, and a careers information resource, Careers Tagged, that gives guidance and support in the search for careers, work experience, internships and more.

Anne-Marie Martin, director of The Careers Group, said: “Like us, The Guardian understands the importance of reaching each generation of students and graduates on their own terms, in a conversion of equals.”

The fair, which started at midday and finished at 6pm, was a huge success with crowds of graduates still arriving at 5pm.

As well as advice and information on careers, there was also a CV workshop area where professionals helped graduates to create a professional CV.
