The quick workout for men

Guys, have you been thinking for a while about getting in shape, but haven't got around to doing it because you're too busy, and don't fancy pumping big weights?
 
Well, you don't have to. There are easy 5-minute exercise routines you can do that can be incorporated into any busy life.

These simple routines can help fight the bulge and slowly get you toned, as long as you stick with it and watch what you eat.

A sizeable beer-belly is often the first unwanted sign of a lack of fitness.

This easy routine will help slowly burn off fat around the gut, improve stamina and help with your posture.

The 5-minute abs workout:

The Plank

Lay facing down on the floor. Prop yourself up, resting your elbows and forearms flat on the ground and your feet standing on your tiptoes.

Keeping your body in a straight line, tense your abs and hold in this position for 20 seconds.

Have 15 seconds rest then roll onto your left then right forearm to do the same manoeuvre on your side, keeping your ankles together. Do each for 20 seconds. Have 15 seconds rest.

Jack-knife variation

Lie flat on your back with legs straight and arms clamped together above your head. Keeping your ankles tight together, bring your feet and hands together in a smooth motion, always with your limbs straight and shoulders flat on the ground.

Repeat this movement 15 times. Have 15 seconds rest.

Stomach Crunch Variation

Lay on your back with your legs bent 90 degrees and feet planted flat. Keep your arms straight on your side. Now raise your torso off the floor as far as you can towards your hips in a smooth motion, keeping your feet flat on the floor. Repeat this motion 15 times.

These simple exercises should take no more than 5 minutes. Try and do it 3 times a week to lay the foundation for firm abdominal muscles.

Once you get used to them you can slowly introduce more exercise into your lifestyle increasing the frequency to get fitter and more toned.
