Andy Zaltzman Radio 4 show
The Drill Hall is playing host to the live recording of Andy Zaltzman: History of the Third Millennium radio show, which will be broadcasted on Radio 4 later this year.
Stand-up comedian Zaltzman uses a mixture of sketches, funny puns and similes to create comedy while still talking about the issues involving world politics, British society and global economy of the last decade.
They go over everything from President Bush to sports, which means that there is a joke for everyone.
I would encourage anyone with an interest in radio to go, as they would find it fun to see how a radio show is put together.
It also gives you the chance to do something new and the tickets are free, however it’s on a first-come-first-serve basis, so book in advance to get priority tickets and try to get there fairly early.
I found the whole show very funny but felt that the politics episode is more for an older audience due to some of the humour. I’m not fond of politics so I didn’t find it extremely entertaining, however my boyfriend who loves political debates found all the jokes very funny.
Overall it was a fun evening; the Drill Hall has a very friendly atmosphere which allows you to relax and just listen to the show. Although, you may feel that you’re at a pantomime at the beginning because the audience is asked to laugh and clap to check sound levels.
One of the highlights was watching them re-do their lines when they mess them up, and that always gets a laugh.
