Embracing winter
Who doesn’t love winter? I for one, have always been a fan of the cold weather - it brings to mind an idyllic vision of me snuggled up on a couch, hot chocolate and Agatha Christie novel in hand, in front of a fireplace while it’s snowing outside.
Of course, it’s totally wishful thinking when in London. And time spent wishing is time wasted.
Reality can be quite different, for instance, winter doesn’t make much of a difference per se - the tube is boiling and cramped with tourists all year round, the sky is grey and littered with clouds pretty much most of the time, and there is no chance of losing all your layers in August either.
With London prices, I can definately forget having that fireplace. So alas, let us embrace the coming of winter and the simple joys a warm scarf, heavy jacket and gorgeous pair of boots can bring.
Lifestyle helps you explore ways of being, living and feeling good outside of the classroom. Most importantly, it celebrates you being yourself.
Trends come and go, but surely, no matter what ‘type’ you are, if there’s one thing this city has taught me is to not be afraid of risks - go for it, try out new things and don’t ever be afraid of change.
Surely, my vision of cosy winters has evolved into manical multi-tasking: there is hardly time for a hot chocolate inside the house when so many good things are happening in London between October and February, and I am sure you’d agree. Those on my list can involve: pubs, clubs, galleries, parks and high street stores (in no particular order).
Whatever you enjoy, there is just no escaping the bustling urge for pleasure that London offers. Whether you’re the artsy, sporty or chilled out, this city truly has it all.
And guess what? There is no better way to discover the real you than to indulge in it. No one here cares about labels either and Oscar Wilde, Sex Pistols and Mary Quant would've told you the same thing. Embrace the rebellious and eclectic nature of the Londoner.
But FYI, this doesn’t mean I’m letting go of the couch. After a long week of working like a dog, it’ll be here waiting for me. And boy, does it feel good.
