Warm and stylish on a budget

Students can find it tough to sustain the cost of living in London let alone maintain a stylish wardrobe. But keeping warm is an essential rather than a luxury.

However, coats can be pricey. Therefore, Arts London News has hit the high street to pick out a few of the best places to find bargain coats for under £30, that will keep you warm and fashionable this winter.

New Look

For just £20, New Look has a range of trench coats similar to those of Burberry; in cream, black and grey, so you can buy whichever goes best with your existing wardrobe.

Leather coats never go out of fashion, and New Look have them for around £25 in different colours and styles — from biker to hooded ones. Show your student card and you’ll get an extra 10 per cent off.

The men’s range in New Look is also very good, with coats almost identical to those in Topman, but available at just a fraction of the price.

Primark

Probably the most popular stor on the high street, Primark has a huge range of coats, most of which are well under the £30 mark.

Duffle coats always seem to make an appearance at winter, and Primark has them in practically every colour and style.

For £18 you can get a parka available in green and cream. However, to make sure you are extra warm on those cold mornings, a jumper or cardigan underneath would be advised.

Although a lot more girls shop in Primark than boys, the range of men’s coats is just as good as the women’s, and again duffle and parkas are the choice of the season.

Peacocks

Peacocks may not be as popular among students as most other high street stores, but there are many bargains to be found.

The range is a bit smaller and you may have to look a little harder to find a fashionable coat, but I can assure you there are a few hidden gems. Like New Look, Peacocks have trench coats for around £20 in a range of colours. For £30, you’ll have a coat, gloves, hat and scarf ready for the winter months.

Charity and vintage

As well as the high street, charity and vintage shops are a great place to go for coats. Not only will you be doing your bit for charity, chances are your purchase will be one of a kind.

Faux fur coats are on trend this season, and can be quite pricey on the high street, often starting at £50. Vintage shops like Rokit Proxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 d Beyond Retro have a wide selection, with plenty of coats for £25 – £30.

Wrapping up warm and looking good doesn’t need to break the bank.
