X Factor: Queen week

by Shari Kelvin

Three-thousand complaints! Isn't it amazing that people complain to Ofcom because Simon kept in Jedward? History tends to repeat itself on the X Factor, as it was the same old tactical story this week.

The show is rapidly losing what it branded itself as from the start - the X Factor should be about singing talent, not about good looks and spiteful judges.

The stronger contestants are getting booted out week after week because the judges are failing to put aside their pride and hatred for each other.

Saturday night

On Saturday night's show the theme was Queen, in dedication to the late, great Freddie Mercury.

The finalists all seemed to really have got into the spirit of things. Stacey once again blew everyone to pieces with her talent, but yet again Lloyd sang out of tune and with less confidence than a composting leaf (yes i did mean that.)

John and Edward are just Jedward, they try but what can I say. However, their rendition of Under Pressure  was truly fantastic.

Obviously the pineapple-wearing Calvin Harris, who was booted off the set after having crashed the stage to 'make a mockery' of the competition and its 'terrible' music, did not effect their performance.

Lloyd is in for another week, lets see if his good looks and feeble demeanor will keep him going and going.

Decision time

Playing the guitar and drums was none other than Brian May and Roger Taylor from Queen, while the finalists sung in the Sunday night show with a rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. The contestants, dressed in black, seemed to be enjoying themselves. Super-babe Shakira also took to the stage to perform her new single, Did it Again.

Jamie Archer and Lloyd Daniels found themselves in the bottom two this Sunday. Once again the judges couldn't decide between Jamie's survival song Show Must Go On and Lloyd's Last Request, so it meant deadlock drama.

Jamie thought he was safe because he had been one of the strongest finalists throughout the show, but he was so wrong!

Lloyd stole the vote, although it must have been the sympathy vote, because there can be no other reason for keeping this boy in the show.

Do your Bit

During the Sunday night show, the X Factor contestants took to the stage to perform their new charity single - Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone - for each single they sell, £1 will be given to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. So dig deep and lets do our bit for a worthy charity.
