X Factor: Wham Week

by Shari Kelvin

It’s week seven of the X Factor finals, and oh how it’s dragged.

There is little time left for the remaining finalists to reach perfection, and possibly stardom, but with the only entertaining act now ejected from the competition, what hope is there? The theme for this week was ‘Wham Week’, a new low?

The finalists are really upping their games as the weeks draw on. In Saturday night’s show, everyone sang their lungs out. Joe greatly improved his vocals this week receiving praise for his performance. Even Lloyd got praised, alhtough his standard is so low any injection of energy is an improvement.

Guests

Sunday night’s show was graced by the ever lovely Susan Boyd, winner of Britain’s Got Talent, another of Simon Cowell’s creations.

With soothing and calming vocals, she took to the stage to sing her new single, Wild Horses. She might come across as crazy at times but despite looking like Shrek in a sequined dress, boy can she can sing.

The highlight and the talk of the X Factor show this week was Mariah Carey. She blew everyone away with her stunning vocals and breathtakingly soulful voice, and as usual came dressed to impress in a beautiful black gown as she performed her new single, I Want To Know What Love Is.

From one excitement to the next, the time all finalists dread, the fate of who is in the bottom two; consistently read out at a snails pace by Dermot even though, the list gets shorter every week.

For a third time, John and Edward were in the remaining two along with Olly Murs. It’s shocking that such an entertaining act as Jedward could receive so few votes. It would be shocking to keep the twins in on talent alone, but personality goes a long way.

Dannii's casting vote

They battled it out as usual, but when it came to the judges this week it was left to Dannii to make the key decision and seal the fate of one of the bottom two.

She made it clear that the X Factor show is a “singing competition” and on that basis she had to let the twins take the plunge. Does she have any idea what this will do to the ratings?

Jedward out

Stacey is still the strongest contender, so lets see what the finalist have planned for next week now the twins are gone.
