Cakes & Shakes | Food review
A dash of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, a hint of ’50s ambiance and a sprinkle of chart topping tunes, Cakes and Shakes is an experience not to be missed.
At the heart of Gants Hill, North-East London, Cakes and Shakes specialises in blending confectionary from Ferrero Rocher to Jammy Dodgers, into delicious milkshakes.
They also offer a large variety of snacks and desserts including paninis, cheesecakes, waffles and ice-cream.
Staying true to the chocoholic I am, I decided to go for full indulgence and treated myself to a Lindt chocolate milkshake, waffles and ice-cream.
I was left completely satisfied with the portion.
The waffles were definitely great for sharing and I have never experienced another dessert to rival it.
The café was buzzing with young people yet the ‘50s- style booths created intimacy.
Prices
The treats are of a high standard but they are a bit pricey with milkshakes starting at £3.50 and deserts from £2.50, though this is the only criticism I would have.
The hot drinks on the other hand, are very reasonably priced with coffees starting at £1.30.
Although the menu is delicious, it is the whole Cakes and Shakes experience which sets the café apart from its competitors.
Cakes and Shakes is open 12 noon until midnight Mondays to Wednesdays and until 1am Thursdays to Sundays.
It’s a great alternative to a bar for an evening out, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is buzzing.
