LCF Vice President lets us know what's going on

portrait of Sahiba Sethi LCF Vice President Hello there everyone, Sahiba Sethi, your London College of Fashion (LCF) vice president here.

Students should be proud to know that there has been a significant rise in the number London College of Fashion applicants compared with last year.

LCF is also worthy of kudos, owing to the breathtaking fashion show that was put up by the MA students at the V&A recently.

Attended by a vast number of people including some noted celebrities, the show was a huge success and showcased upcoming and promising talent.

Problems

There have, of course been some issues that students have raised across campuses and which need attention, one of which is the lack of space at the pattern-making open access at Curtain Road.

Students feel that they have to run to grab spots in time before they get filled up and so wish to have another area to fulfill the demand.

Another major problem that had come up was the lack of vegetarian options for students at the canteens around the LCF sites.

Resolution

Students may be assured that the matter has been recognised and action is being taken to improve this situation.

As the new vice president my main aim is to try to extend library and IT hours.

Year after year students have been facing difficulty working in IT rooms and the library because they close early.

It is especially difficult to use these spaces closer to term end, what with everyone struggling to meet deadlines.

Another problem students have been facing with the library is that there aren’t enough copies of books and the fine for late returns is too high.

To sort this out we are planning to run a petition and get as many signatures as possible so that something can be done to improve this situation.

All in all, we have a few ups and downs but hopefully the creases won’t last too long!

Cheers!
