CCW Vice President talks change
Recently, we have had Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon College forums – these feedback sessions have been really well attended and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the dedicated course reps for their commitment to their fellow students.
The BA (Hons) Photography course at Camberwell has received praise with students raving about their experience, great tutors and an inspired learning experience.
Change
I really hope that we can take stories like this one and champion other courses that haven’t quite met student’s expectations, and get them to strive for the same.
I would love to hear from other students that have had similar experiences on their degree.
A unanimous issue that has been raised at CCW college forums is the pricing of food and beverages in the canteens.
We at the Students Union have decided to research into the price comparisons of the canteens to local cafés and shops.
Plan of action
Once we have all the relevant research material we can create a plan of action to propose to the heads of colleges and companies that provide the canteen facilities.
We will compile a document that we intend to feed back to our students at the next set of college forums and hopefully strive to get fairer and more student-friendly prices.
Again, timetable issues were brought to the forums, and with the Students Union in full swing in campaigning to get a more centralised system of timetabling.
I trust we will have resolution on the current issues around this topic.
If any students have recently been affected by timetabling problems
I would love to hear from them, so please email me.
Lastly, it is election time and, with that, time for a new CCW vice-president. The recent participation is very exciting and I trust the voting turnout in the three colleges will be great.
Change is in all our hands and CCW has a bright and positive future.
Voting will be from February 26 till March 5, 2010, and can be done at www.suarts.org/vote.
Good Luck to all the candidates who are running for a change.
