Dinosaurs Unleashed | Exhibition review

by Emma Bower

Outside Oxford Circus stood a gaint dinosaursAmid the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street you would not expect to find a world that is 65 million years old and the home of some of the world’s largest and most fearsome creatures.

Dinosaurs Unleashed is the UK’s largest animated, life-sized dinosaur experience and takes you through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

The 24 mechanical dinosaurs are to scale and incorporate movement and sound emulating a prehistoric safari.

Starting off inside at the Triassic period, you are taken on a route outside through the Jurassic period and end at the Cretaceous period with the infamous T-Rex.

Awe-inspiring

It is awe-inspiring to see how large the creatures were that once walked the Earth. You are not just informed about the land creatures, the aquarium provides a brilliant display of the creatures from the deep.

The exhibition is full of hands-on activities and games including a dinosaur excavation and quizzes.

Although these are aimed at the younger visitors, why not lose yourself and get caught up in the atmosphere?

A tour guide is recommended to give a greater insight into details such as the size of the dinosaurs’ brains, what they ate and who ate them.

Large price

The Dinosaurs Unleashed exhibition was quite small and quick to get round for the large price and left me wanting more and feeling a little disappointed when I reached the end.

The exhibition is mainly aimed at children but is a good experience for anyone, regardless of age, who is interested in prehistoric creatures or just has an hour or so to fill.

Catch Dinosaurs Unleashed on London’s Oxford Street before it becomes extinct on April 30 when the exhibition moves on.

£15.50 for adults, £11.00 for children and £13.50 with a student discount.
