LCF opens in Dubai
The London College of Fashion (LCF) is set to pilot a series of short fashion and design courses in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in May.
LCF will send over lecturers from its UK campuses to teach nine crash courses including fashion marketing, fashion journalism, luxury brand management and personal fashion styling at the Kempinski Hotel in Dubai.
"The college has carefully selected courses from an already existing portfolio, which LCF hopes will best suit the market of the UAE," said senior business manager at LCF, Linda Roberts.
The project’s Dubai location, described by Roberts as "an easily accessible hub for the UAE and the wider region," will be LCF’s first set of short courses to open in the Middle East.
International acclaim
The project is also associated with designers of international acclaim, including Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad.
"We know that there are many entrepreneurs in the UAE so they may be attracted to the courses to help them build their own fashion business, and we hope to learn from our experiences there too," said Roberts.
Each course will run from one to five days, and students that enrol onto the courses will be rewarded with a certificate that states they attended the London College of Fashion.
"The course is for those who are possibly already working in the fashion industry with ambitions to develop their career through professional development, or wishing to move into fashion from another industry," said Roberts.
She added: "And as students already do so in London, existing fashion students in the UAE will be able to use the courses to gain some experience in their chosen area of study."
