The New Wine | Music Review
Norwegian band, The New Wine, are making big waves at home and abroad with their quirky and alternative tunes.
Their main goal is simply to make people dance, and it sure works.
The band has a strong stage presence complimented by original songs.
The four members seem to be very interchangeable on their instruments, but for the most part, Geir Hermannsen plays synthesizers, Johan Hatleskog plays bass, Adrian Søgnen plays drums and Stian Iversen plays guitar as well as being the vocalist.
Having won numerous of talent competitions and played on every muddy festival that Norway has to offer, the band recently toured Europe together with the Whitest Boy Alive.
They delivered a successful mix between powerpop, rock and indie at packed venues in London including the Camden Lock Tavern, KoKo and 93 Feet East.
These young men from Bergen present an interesting and unique mix between the Whitest Boy Alive, Phoenix and Italodisco. The result is a slightly synthetic brew, perfect for late night boogies.
Their first single, Bridge, was released on February 8, and you can find this ear candy on iTunes.
Like all bottles of wine, the best are yet to mature and develop over time - the same is to be said about the band.
The vocals are hardly amazing, but this band show promise.
