LONDON"ING"

by Selin Tamer, Elcimay Ekinci & Sera Atalay

Leaving a memory at the Tate Modern

Our plane landed to Heathrow Airport on 17th of July, in the evening.

We were all all feeling exhausted and were looking forward to go to our dorms.

But when we were on our way to our hall we started to feel excited despite the gloomy weather.

Thinking about all the inspiring and fun things we will do.

First week

ANOTHER SUNNY DAY OF LONDONIn the first week of the programme we worked on a single project which had to have the theme "Old and New London".

In the first few days we went to museums and to interesting areas where we were able to sketch the landscape, buildings and objects.

Everyone had a different approach to the environment and all of our drawings were different from each other.

We spent the last three days of the week in Wimbledon College of Arts preparing a collage using our previous sketches and material.

SOMEBODY'S BEDROOM

We created new shapes, abstract works by being inspired from London's atmosphere and from each other.

In the evenings we met with our friends from other schools and had dinner together.

We were travelling everywhere by the underground and it has become a major symbol of London for us.

It is possible to see every kind of people there. Some are in hurry, some are trying to earn money by making music while people are changing trains.

Weekend out

THE PLACE THAT WE SPEND THE HALF OF OUR DAY

On Saturday we went to Tate Museum and to Portobello. Fortunately, the weather was wonderful and we enjoyed our ice creams while wandering around the markets in Portobello.

On Sunday we went to the Design Museum and really liked the items and inventions we saw. Next we walked across the London Bridge.

We also saw a Turkish Festival in that area. In the evening we went to Hyde Park and we rested there. It was a lovely weekend.

Second week

In the second week we went to Camberwell College of Arts, London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins and London College of Communication respectively.

Tower Bridge

WORKSHOP DAY 3-CSM

We did different workshops there like creating our own bags and designing objects. They were all really fun.

HAVING FUN BETWEEN WORKSHOPS

During our time in London we had the chance to discover many aspects of London.

Depending on our observations think that living in London is very fun and inspiring.

The cultural diversity is one of the major things that make ideas flourish.

In addition we explored "Old and New London"; buildings, landscapes, people...

They all have the spirit of old and new, existing together and in harmony...
