London College of Fashion (LCF) and Central Saint Martin's (CSM) have been named as two of the top fashion design schools in the world by global multimedia network Fashion TV.

The channel, which was founded by textile tycoon Michel Adam Lisowski has become a leader in fashion and lifestyle media.

FTV put together a list of the most outstanding fashion design schools in developing their students’ talent and skills.

CSM has been recognised for being "one of the most influential fashion design schools in the world" with a notable number of graduates becoming a success in the fashion world, such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane.

CSM was also praised for being the only institute to have its runway shows catalogued on style.com.

"LCF is so specialist; there are no other universities that just focus solely on fashion."

LCF has been singled out for its strong and broad curriculum which has guided many students in turning their passion for fashion into a career opportunity.

“LCF is so specialist; there are no other universities that just focus solely on fashion. The fact that it’s based in London means it is so central and one of the most fashionable cities,” said current BA Buying and Merchandising student, Ellie Jezlerska, 24.

Eunessie Travasso, 22, a graduate in Fashion Design and Marketing, originally decided to study at LCF because she believes that “when it comes to job prospects I’ll have better opportunities. Choosing to study at LCF has enabled me to explore my subject more. The tutors have always been so supportive; helping us achieve the best marks possible.”

A spokeswoman for LCF said: “London College of Fashion is delighted to feature in Fashion TV’s list of ‘Top Design Schools in the World’ alongside our sister college CSM.

"Combined with our rich heritage and our ability to respond quickly to the changing needs of the fashion industry, LCF has rightly become the leading global provider of fashion education, research and consultancy. It’s great to be recognised alongside some of the world’s most prestigious universities.”

Other fashion schools featured on the list were: Bunka Fashion College (Tokyo, Japan), Patrons, The New School for Design (New York, USA) and Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp, Belgium).
