Dylan Jones - Editor of GQ magazine

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has appointed University of The Arts London (UAL) alumnus Dylan Jones as Chair of the Fashion 2012 Menswear Committee.

Jones, who studied Graphic Design and Photography at Central Saint Martins (CSM), has been enlisted to form a team of influential figures within the Menswear industry to work on a calendar of events for Fashion 2012.

“These events will be a central platform under which British fashion will be showcased and celebrated throughout London’s Olympic year,” said the BFC in a statement.

Already the editor of British GQ for 13 years and four times winner of the British Society of Magazine Editors Editor of the Year Award, the BFC developed the role for Jones to assist in raising the profile of British menswear.

This falls alongside the increasingly popular Men’s Day at London Fashion Week, which was established in 2009 and has since grown with the support of designers and retailers such as Topman and Fashion East.

Perfect candidate

"Dylan Jones is already a cultural ambassador and a great supporter of men’s fashion,” said a BFC spokesperson.

“He is the perfect candidate to chair the newly formed Menswear Committee for 2012 which is set to be such an exciting year, not only for the fashion industry but for the UK as a whole," they continued.

Alongside an impressive journalistic career, including a weekly column in the Mail on Sunday, Jones has also published several books and is currently working with U2 on a book to accompany their record-breaking 360 Degrees Tour.

Entitled U2360: The Official Story of the Greatest Spectacle in Stadium-Rock History, the book is due to be published in October this year.
