by Maryse Farag

Richard SchembriLast Friday, Richard Schembri, a first year student from FdA Production for Live Events and Television, was elected as the new Students' Union Vice President for Londn College of Communication.

Schembri who won the vice presidential race captured 63 votes defeating three other candidates. George Clark fell to second place, just 11 votes behind Schembri. Rosmary Nywndwa-Bryce came in third place and Valentino Lazardis came in fourth.

Despite a low voter turnout of 137, this year’s Students’ Union election was a night of firsts and decisive victories. Schembri: “With the resources that the Students' Union have, I’m going to work really hard to tackle students’ issues.”

Schembri, will be representing the voice of LCC students and campaign on issues concerning the college. His other efforts will include installing locker spaces; resolving issues about course changes; introducing reusable UAL flasks for hot drinks as a green incentive to compensate for the cost of buying such large amounts of paper cups; introduce reasonable printing costs in the library by allowing students to print under record instead of having to pay £2 for a card every time a student forgets it; campaign for timetables and room rotas to be electronic and placed on an accessible system and to display student art on the outside of the tower block to create a brighter exterior and increase publicity.
