X Factor: Queen week

Three-thousand complaints! Isn't it amazing that people complain to Ofcom because Simon kept in Jedward? History tends to repeat itself on the X Factor, as it was the same old tactical story this week.

Arts by Offenders (Free)

Arts By Offenders is a new exhibition being held at the Royal Festival Hall. Its unusual twist is that prisoners have made every piece of artwork displayed. There are also offerings from immigration detainees, UK citizens being held in custody overseas, and patients from secure psychiatric hospitals.

Soul Jam at the Ritzy (Free)

The Ritzy - an independent cinema with licensed bars, a café and restaurant - is all the glamour and glitz of an old school evening of dinner and a movie, mixed in with the contemporary twist of a night of spontaneous live hip hop from The Illersapiens and others thanks to its intimate music venue Upstairs @ The Ritzy.

Review: Roxy Bar and Screen

From the outside, Roxy Bar and Screen doesn’t seem like anything unique, however - as they say - appearances can be deceiving. The bar/restaurant with cinema venue, situated on Borough High Street is certainly an unusual concept.

Andy Zaltzman Radio 4 show (Free)

The Drill Hall is playing host to the live recording of Andy Zaltzman: History of the Third Millennium radio show, which will be broadcasted on Radio 4 later this year. Stand-up comedian Zaltzman uses a mixture of sketches, funny puns and similes to create comedy while still talking about the issues involving world politics, British society and global economy of the last decade.

In The Mix

The Rich Mix cross-arts centre in London's trendy Bethnal Green Road always seems to have a diverse programme on offer. This autumn 2009 is no different, with acclaimed British alto saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch organizing a season of concerts - In The Mix Sunday Free Jazz - in the bar area of the venue.

Photomonth 2009 (Free)

The free photography festival Photomonth has been in full swing since the beginning of October and, despite the name, will run until the end of November. The exhibition is centred around Brick Lane and Shorditch but, there are also different events going on throughout London. Using various venues, from galleries to restaurants, there are over 100 exhibitions, each dedicated to a different style of photography.

X Factor: movie week

Is it a disgrace or just plain predictable that The X-Factor has major flaws this year? Once again the show has failed to represent what The X-Factor should stand for - a singing competition. On Sunday night Lucie Jones and twins John and Edward were in the last two and had to battle it out in the sing-off to stay another week. But who went? I’m sure I don’t have to even say it, as you probably guessed correctly: the untalented boys missed the eviction, when Simon put the deciding vote to the public.
