UAL netball team season review
The UAL netball teams have had a strong season as the firsts finished mid table and the seconds finished runners-up in the league.
The firsts will look back at their season contently as they recorded five wins and lost three games, finishing fourth in the league with 12 points.
First team captain, Rebecca Mckenzie was very positive on her squad’s commitment levels and performances, as well as their ability to mesh as a team.
“It’s been a successful campaign, we’ve eclipsed our performances from last year and have played really well as a team, managing to win most of our games,” she told Arts London News.
“We’ve been able to field the same team each week throughout the season, we gelled brilliantly.
“They’ve been really committed this year and have showed a lot of dedication to turning up to training and matches.”
The seconds have had a fine season all round. After six wins and three losses, the seconds managed to accumulate 18 points, finishing second in the league, which placed them above a number of universities, including Brunel.
Rachel Corbould, captain of the seconds, was extremely proud of her side’s achievements this year.
“Both teams have had very good seasons, the seconds in particular have been outstanding, they’ve been really enthusiastic and very reliable throughout.
“We beat Brunel which was a great highlight, I’ve been playing for three years and we usually lose around 30-0, but this time we whipped their arses”.
With another season of netball over, changes are set to come about with a host of third years, including Rachel, graduating and a fresh batch of students looking to join next year. Regardless of this, Rachel is optimistic on the future of the netball society.
“Because quite a lot of people are leaving, a whole new load of girls are coming in and it will bring lots of new talent, it looks promising.
“We’ve already got two extremely enthusiastic girls lined up for the presidency roles, they know what they want to change for next year and they’re very much looking forward to making a go of it”. she concluded.
